Summer Reading 2018

  • All students entering grades 6-12 in Wilmington Public Schools have summer reading assignments.  Summer reading encourages independent learning, active reading, and critical thinking. Summer reading also helps students maintain the progress they have made as readers and writers during the academic year.

Students should look for the course/grade they are entering for the 2018-2019 academic year, join the appropriate Google classroom for resources and reminders, and read the required book(s). They should carefully look over the included assignments and work on them as they read. Students should expect to turn in their work at the start of the 2018-2019 school year and be assessed on and held accountable for their understanding of these texts when they return to classes in the fall. Copies of the texts are available at bookstores, online, and at public libraries.

Please contact English Curriculum Team Leader Mia Parviainen ( if you have any questions.
